Level System

Skill Levels Level 1 — Absolute Beginner You are playing volleyball for the first time, or you may have played casually in the past just for fun. At the moment you do not have any real volleyball skills or understanding of the game rules and rotations. Level 2 — Beginner You have been playing for a few months or have played before. You understand the basic rules of volleyball and how rotations work. You know in theory how passing (both forearm and overhead) should work, and sometimes you manage to perform these passes successfully. Level 3 — Lower Intermediate You understand rotations and basic team structure. You know how to play with a setter and can participate in simple team play. You are able to send the ball over the net consistently and occasionally perform a controlled hit with one hand. Level 4 — Upper Intermediate You are already a confident volleyball player, but you may not always be in perfect form. You understand team systems such as the 5–1 rotation, know how to block, and generally feel comfortable on the court. You can perform most volleyball skills, although some elements may still be inconsistent. Level 5 — Advanced / Competitive You have been playing volleyball for many years. You understand different rotations and attacking options, and you can perform a variety of serves, including jump serves. You may have participated in organized competitions or tournaments and feel confident playing at a competitive level.
